What the Asset Creator does
Tango Down - Asset Creator is a ChatGPT plugin that helps game developers create visual references for 3D game assets: player and character concepts, weapon concepts, props, equipment, vehicles and other game assets. Its default visual direction is stylized realism intended for modern competitive FPS games.
It can also produce modeling references as separate views. For a character, that means separate front, back, left and right images instead of one combined contact sheet.
The Asset Creator runs inside ChatGPT. Images are generated by ChatGPT, so results can vary and may need a few rounds of revision.
Troubleshooting
The generated asset does not match the design I asked for
Describe the asset in concrete terms: silhouette, materials, colors, proportions and any details that must be present. If you attached a reference image, say which parts of it should be kept. Then ask for a revision that names exactly what is wrong instead of starting over, for example "same character, but the helmet should be open-faced".
Character views are inconsistent with each other
Views are generated as separate images, so small differences between them can happen. Settle on one approved view first, then ask for the remaining views to match it and list the details that must stay the same (outfit, colors, gear placement, proportions). Regenerate only the view that is off rather than the whole set.
Multiple views were combined into one image
Modeling references are meant to be one image per view. If you received a single combined sheet, ask again for separate images and name the views you need, for example "front, back, left and right as four separate images". Requesting one view per message also works.
The background was not transparent
Ask for the image again and state that it needs a transparent background. If that still does not work, request a plain, flat, single-color background that contrasts with the asset, which is straightforward to remove in an image editor.
Part of a character or weapon was cropped
Ask for the full asset to be visible with empty space on every side, and mention the parts that were cut off (feet, the top of the head, a barrel or a stock). Long assets such as rifles often fit better in a wide image, and standing characters in a tall one.
I want to report an inappropriate or broken result
Use the reporting and feedback tools built into ChatGPT on the response itself, since images are generated by ChatGPT. You can also tell us using the contact options below. Include what you asked for and what went wrong. Only share images or prompts with us if you are comfortable doing so.
